鉄道小説

The anthology from the transportation publishing company, which is known for its titles like "JR Timetable" and "Travel Journal," showcases a collection of railway-themed stories written by a diverse array of authors. This compilation appears to reflect the subjective tastes and preferences of the editorial team, leading to an eclectic mix of writing styles and themes. Notably, one standout piece from the horror genre is crafted by the acclaimed author, Ichiro Sawamura, who mesmerizes readers with a chilling narrative that juxtaposes the whimsical watercolor cover art with a peculiar and subtly terrifying plot set against the backdrop of the iconic Hankyu Takarazuka line. While the anthology presents a tantalizing promise of varied storytelling, some readers expressed disappointment in its execution, feeling that several stories leaned heavily into introspective daily life themes rather than delivering the anticipated genre diversity. One reader, particularly captivated by the realistic use of Tsugaru dialect, was left with a profound sense of place, blurring the line between the fictional world and reality itself, articulating a wish to experience life in Aomori as conveyed through the narrative. Overall, the anthology offers both chilling and heartwarming stories; however, it may not fully meet the expectations for readers looking for a broad range of themes and plots. **
