It does not matter where it is mounted, as the system is closed and overflow only opens if there is a lot of pressure. The hose is approximately 12 inches long, but it can be replaced with a longer one from an auto parts store. The product is vented through a small vent hole at the top, which allows vapors and fluid to vent in an overheating condition. There is no sight glass to check the coolant level as the assumption is that if the radiator is full, the coolant level is adequate. The bracket is made of aluminum alloy and the clamp is stainless steel. Although some customers have asked if they can use it as a gas tank or for overflow from a gas tank, it is not recommended to use it for this purpose. Overall, customers have been pleased with this product for its durability and effective operation.
