BobRoss Paints BR006257 Editorial Review
** Bob Ross Gesso-Gray 16oz** The Bob Ross Gesso-Gray has emerged as a surprisingly effective option for artists looking for a high-quality gesso at a reasonable price. Initially seen as a brand catering primarily to beginners, users have been impressed by its performance compared to more established professional brands such as Utrecht and Liquitex. The Gesso-Gray's formula is slightly thinner, allowing for smooth application and quick drying times—typically within a few hours—which is especially advantageous for artists looking to build layers without long interruptions. Artists appreciate the neutral mid-tone gray color this gesso offers, which suits a variety of painting styles, particularly oil studies. It avoids the overly cool hues of other pre-tinted gessos, making it ideal for lifelike underpaintings. Reviews frequently highlight the gesso's impressive coverage, often requiring only two coats on pre-primed canvases and sometimes just one coat for larger, well-prepared surfaces. Moreover, the gesso is recommended for both budding artists and those engaged in serious figure painting, making it an educational tool for those learning specific painting techniques. While concerns about archival quality beyond a year were noted, users expressed satisfaction with its overall performance and noted its efficacy in both small and large-scale works. In summary, the Bob Ross Gesso-Gray has received positive feedback for its blend of quality, efficiency, and color accuracy—proving that great results can come from unexpected places. **
