Does the chainsaw detach from the pole?
Answer: If you are asking about the ability to detach and use the chain saw without the pole, the answer is NO! There are other models suck as the SWJ807E that are detachable to use as both a chain saw and a pole saw. -

Does the chain come installed?
Answer: Unfortunately it does not come installed, and that is perhaps the most challenging part of the whole process. Just read the instructions carefully and take your time getting it with the right amount of tension. Also this unit does not come with specific oil (Bar & Chain oil) needed for the operation. Once put together, it will cut, it will slice, it will dice like Edward Scissorhand -
Question:
Can you adjust the angle of a push of a button or do you need to remove some screws?
Answer: No tools needed. Twist dial to loosen retaining bolt, click saw into preferred angle, then tighten dial. I just keep mine straight. Works great. Make sure and adjust/ retighten chain after 15 min of use. I love this tool! -

Can someone recommend me what brand of extension cord to use with this?
Answer: Extension cord up to 50 ft must be 16 gauge minimum, 50 ft + to 100ft must be 14 gauge minimum. Manual states not to use extension cord longer than 100 ft. Must have a polarized plug also (where one of the prongs is wider than the other). Hope this helps. -

My unit is leaking oil pretty rapidly. The tank will empty within 10 minutes of use. Is this normal?
Answer: I have not experienced any oil leaking problems with mine. Sounds like you need to contact them. Good luck -

Does anyone use a normal 12 gauge cord? And is it okay? Or should I use a 14 gauge cord?
Answer: A 14 gauge cord is adequate for the Sun Joe pole saw. Note with wire gauge numbers, the smaller the number the thicker the wire and larger the current carrying capacity so any smaller guage size would be adequate. However, be aware that with very long wires, say 50 to 100 ft, the thicker the better. -
